The ALT_CTL BIPOC INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL is a Blerd City project with the mission to advance, cultivate and support the BIPOC filmmakers’ control of representation of image making through their intersectionality of cultural and artistic vision from New York City, United States, and International regions.

​This film festival is dedicated to showcasing creative works of the BIPOC community in SCI-FI, Afrofuturism, Animation, Horror, Fantasy, Magic Realism, Documentary and Social Awareness.

  • Janice Kenyatta, a fearless trailblazer in education, brings over 40 years of experience as a retired educator and school administrator. As the first African American and the first woman to serve as Supervisor of Career and Technical Education at Essex County Vocational and Technical Schools, she shattered barriers by managing a team of 70 teachers across 31 diverse programs.

    With a Master's Degree in Business Education and post- graduate supervisory certifications in Career and Technical Education in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, Janice exemplifies lifelong learning. Co-author of Black Folk's Hair Revisited: Secrets, Shame, and Liberation, she recently published the captivating children's book, Just As It Is! She also created the beloved "Abena Doll,"

    inspired by her book's main character.

    Beyond her accomplishments, Janice is an empowering mentor who captivates audiences with her speeches and workshops. She uses her ability to challenge perspectives and ignite passion.

    Residing in scenic Wind Gap, PA, Janice cherishes her roles as a mother to two daughters and grandmother to identical twin granddaughters. Her life's motto, "The MORE we learn, the LESS we fear!" encapsulates her unwavering belief in the transformative power of knowledge.

  • Visionary thought leader Kamau Kenyatta, a fearless authority on African American Studies, helps audiences expand their horizons, leaving them with newfound clarity.

    Kamau seamlessly weaves history, philosophy, psychology, and sociology into his teachings, providing fresh perspectives that challenge, empower, and inform.

    With over 25 years of teaching experience, he is known for his unwavering honesty and ability to communicate complex topics that transforms how his listeners see the world.

    He shares his knowledge currently with students at Lehigh University and Northampton Community College in Bethlehem, PA, and he has taught at various institutions over the years.

    His thought-provoking speeches and mind-altering books, including Black Folk's Hair Revisited: Secrets, Shame, and Liberation (co-authored with Janice Kenyatta) and The 7 Most Dangerous Pitfalls Threatening Your College Success, have favorably impacted the lives of countless people world wide.

    In his latest literary contribution, The White People Show: How to Understand Racism and Still Be Wrong About It, Kamau fearlessly dives into the intricate web of racism, challenging both black and white communities to reevaluate their understanding of individual and systemic racism.

  • Hi, my name is Bill and I'm a Zimbabwean Nommo Award-nominated Comic Book Artist and Writer. Author of the Misfortunism series. Design Futures Africa storyteller, as well as other indie comics.

    Self-taught digital artist and writer. I have a hungry passion for visual literature, comic books, animation, film, and game design - these are all small windows into the boundless creative potential of human dreams. I want to tell stories that inform, inspire, and provoke debate. For these above reasons, I want to work on game design for character, environment, and 2D asset creation. I want to work on animations as a storyboard artist. I have created comic books that have contributed significantly to the development of several abilities to achieve these goals not only technical skills such as anatomy drawing, digital painting, framing, pacing, and creating mood but also the ability to work alone on large projects, work with teams of varying sizes, working remotely with clients in the United States, India, Australia, Nigeria, the UK.

    I essentially do two main things. We teach MS Office, Adobe Pro, Nuance and Outlook for top-tier legal and corporate firms. My company is AdvanceTo Training and Consulting.

    My business partner Christine Kulaka (President) and we have had this company since 2004. We train for legal and corporate firms, outsource legal firms and individuals. We train secretaries, word processing operators, paralegals as well as attorneys. I spent 22 years working in legal firms, and many years working on ideas and concepts and helping others to do the same.

    We also train people outside of the legal and corporate sector who need to learn how to format and style their documentation for their business plans, executive summaries, Power Point presentations, slide shows, letters, memos, contracts and more. We train through Zoom and we provide affordable pricing. We help people to keep their concepts under wraps for as long as possible.

    I have over many years consulted with people concerning their concepts, ideas, inventions, disruptive concepts, movie scripts and business related. I have had my own Trademarks and Patents in the past and I have helped many people with the filing of their Trademarks and Parts of their patents.

    I also help people with their social media, their websites, branding and other issues. I teach people how to keep their concepts under wraps for as long as possible. I teach them how to become as independent as possible.
